Madina Kapenova – CEO of Aurora Minerals Group LLP

This is a landmark moment for Kazakhstan’s mining industry—Madina Kapenova has been appointed CEO of Aurora Minerals Group, becoming one of the few women to lead a top-tier exploration and mining services company.

With over 17 years of experience in subsoil use and mineral exploration, she has established herself as a highly skilled expert, a visionary leader, and a passionate advocate for advancing Kazakhstan’s mining sector.

Education:

  • Karaganda State Technical University (Geology and Exploration of Mineral Deposits).
  • Karaganda Economic University (Jurisprudence).
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Key Achievements:

  • Contributed to the development and implementation of the new Subsoil and Subsoil Use Code.
  • Successfully managed subsoil use licenses from acquisition to compliance.
  • Negotiated with investors and led major M&A transactions.
  • Established effective collaborations with government authorities on regulatory matters.
  • Played a critical role in developing and approving exploration plans and mineral resource reports.

Erden Janseitov – CEO of Aurora Geophysics Ltd.

A distinguished geophysics professional with 27 years of expertise, Erden Janseitov has successfully led large-scale projects and introduced cutting-edge technologies to the industry. His leadership will ensure Aurora Geophysics Ltd. remains at the forefront of geophysical advancements and continues its strong market growth.

Education:

  • Almaty Geotechnological University ARNA (Mining Engineer-Geophysicist, with Distinction).
  • Almaty Energy Institute (Thermal Power Engineer).

Key Achievements:

  • Successfully managed and executed major geophysical projects.
  • Introduced advanced technologies, modern equipment, and innovative geophysical methods.
  • Honored with the Distinguished Subsoil Explorer badge by the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan.


Said Sultanov – Managing Director of Xcalibur Start Mapping Kazakhstan

A seasoned professional with an impressive track record, Said Sultanov brings 18 years of expertise in the mining industry and a deep understanding of strategic development and investment processes.

Education:

  • Graduated from University College London (UCL) with a degree in Economics and Business.

Key Achievements:

  • Began his career in 2006 in Toronto, Canada, at BWI First Intelligence, specializing in M&A transactions in the mining industry.
  • In 2008, appointed Regional Director of Stans Energy Corp, where he played a key role in the RTO on TSX-V and asset acquisition in Central Asia.
  • In 2013, became Deputy Head of RCGI Kazgeoinform.
  • In 2014, led Kazgeotech, a joint project between Kazgeology and the Canadian airborne geophysical company Geotech Ltd.
  • In 2015, founded Aurora Group.
  • In 2023, joined the Board of Directors of the Kazakhstan Chamber of Mines.
  • In 2024, became a member of the Supervisory Board of Aurora Group.
