Geological Technician

About the Position:
We offer an opportunity for professional growth in a stable company specializing in geological exploration. If you are eager to apply your knowledge in a dynamic environment and ready for exciting challenges, this position is for you!

Responsibilities:

  • Geological Exploration: Carrying out tasks in accordance with company regulations and technical assignments.
  • Field Assignments: Executing geologist's tasks related to organizing the work of a field team conducting lithochemical surveys on secondary dispersion halos.
  • Supervision: Organizing and supervising the work of sample collectors.
  • Quality Control: Ensuring sample purity, monitoring correct sampling procedures, conducting field sample preparation (sieving), assessing material grain size and moisture, checking for organic impurities, and documenting sample locations with photographs.
  • Laboratory Processes: Packing, sorting, cataloging, and organizing sample shipments.
  • Equipment Handling: Performing measurements using a portable X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyzer.
  • Documentation: Preparing work orders for laboratories, conducting geological prospecting routes, processing route observations, and compiling sampling databases.

Requirements:

  • Education: Higher or specialized secondary professional education in geology.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience in geological research.
  • Field Experience: Participation in gold ore deposit exploration (lithochemical surveys, geological traverses, hand sample collection).
  • Equipment Skills: Ability to use a Garmin GPS navigator, geological compass, and mobile navigation apps (Field Maps, Qfield, Avenza Maps).
  • Software Knowledge: Experience with ArcGIS, QGIS, and MapInfo; knowledge of field geological exploration organization is an advantage.
  • Physical Fitness: Excellent physical condition, endurance, and no medical contraindications for fieldwork.
  • Additional Experience: Work with a portable X-ray fluorescence analyzer (XRF); experience in office-based geological work (compiling factual material maps, geological maps, statistical processing of geochemical research results, constructing dispersion halo maps) is an advantage.
  • Language Skills: High-level proficiency in Russian; knowledge of Kazakh and English is a plus.
  • Preferred Experience: Experience in geological support for mining operations, drilling, and extraction is welcomed.

Field Geologist

Your Responsibilities:

  • Conducting geological exploration strictly in accordance with company regulations and technical assignments.
  • Organizing and supervising the mobilization, accommodation, and transportation of the field team conducting lithochemical surveys on secondary dispersion halos.
  • Leading a team of geological technicians and sample collectors.
  • Ensuring the quality of sample collection: monitoring contamination, sample preparation, evaluating material grain size and moisture, analyzing impurities, and documenting sample locations with photographs.
  • Preparing work orders for laboratory analysis.
  • Supervising measurements using a portable X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyzer.
  • Conducting geological prospecting routes and processing field observations.
  • Creating sampling databases and compiling factual material maps using GIS software.
  • Organizing the transfer of samples to the customer with official documentation.
  • Preparing and writing detailed reports on completed work.

Our Requirements:

  • Higher professional education in geology.
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Practical experience in fieldwork related to gold ore deposit exploration (lithochemical surveys, geological traverses, hand sample collection).
  • Ability to work with office-based geological data: compiling factual material maps, geological maps, statistical processing of geochemical study results, constructing dispersion halo maps.
